SCHWENKSVILLE PA – Schwenksville officials, residents, and businesses are teaming up to display their patriotic pride for the summer. They are again decorating the borough with American flags, despite facing an unusual challenge this year.
The problem: a lack of flag-hanging hardware.
Over the course of many years, the borough explains, members of local Camp 387 of the Patriotic Sons of America have volunteered time and effort to hang flags on utility poles lining Main Street. This year, however, PECO is in the process of replacing those poles. For safety reasons, it temporarily removed and stored the hardware.
As a consequence, according to the Friday (June 12, 2026) edition of the borough newsletter, Main Street “may look a little different this season.”
The Patriotic Sons, however, remain undeterred by such a minor inconvenience. Instead, the borough notes, its members installed flags along portions of Second and Third streets. They also stretched a banner across Main Street that proudly recognizes America’s 250th birthday.

Adding That Hometown Touch
Borough residents and business owners are being asked, if possible, to also play a role.
The newsletter encouraged them “to join us by decorating homes, yards, porches, and store-fronts in red, white, and blue. Whether it’s an American flag, patriotic bunting, lights, flowers, or other decorations, every display helps show our community’s pride and sends a collective ‘Happy Birthday’ to America,” it adds.
The borough also offered its thanks to the Patriotic Sons for their “continued commitment” to a tradition that keeps the community’s “patriotic spirit alive.”
Help in the Future, Too
The Schwenksville Activity Committee says it is looking for “enthusiastic volunteers” to help plan and support other community events throughout the year. “If you enjoy bringing people together and making a difference in your town, we’d love to have you join us,” the committee suggests.
