POTTSTOWN PA – Semi-annual, full-volume extended tests of emergency warning sirens, located within a 10-mile radius of the Sanatoga Road nuclear generating station operated by Constellation Energy Corp., will be held June 1 and 2 (2026; Monday and Tuesday), the company reports.
Sirens will sound June 1 at about 2 p.m., and on June 2 at various intervals throughout the day. Two such tests are conducted each year.
County emergency management authorities activate the sirens. They are not a signal to evacuate. Instead, they are intended to warn area residents to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station for news or instructions.
Constellation’s plant, now called the Limerick Clean Energy Center, produces carbon-free electricity to power 1.7 million homes. Its Pottstown location is about 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
Headquartered in Baltimore, Constellation says it “is the largest private-sector power producer in the world” and “the largest nuclear energy company in the U.S.”

Wegmans Scholarships Given to 24 Local Employees

COLLEGEVILLE PA – Seventeen employees of Wegmans Food Market in Collegeville, and seven others who work at its King of Prussia store, were named Wednesday (May 27, 2026) as among more than 1,500 nationwide winners of the company’s employee scholarships.
The scholarships are valued at between $8,000 and $16,000 over a four-year period, with amounts determined by full- or part-time employment. The company says it expects to pay out more than $5.8 million in tuition assistance, to both new and returning scholarship recipients, during the 2026-2027 school year.
The Collegeville and King of Prussia recipients were identified by only first names. The list of all winners, organized by state and store location, is available online.
All recipients are scheduled to enjoy a party at their respective stores on Saturday (May 30) at 11 a.m. Miniature cupcakes will be served, the company adds.
Since it began in 1984, more than 49,500 Wegmans employees have been awarded scholarships totaling $155 million. Wegmans employees must meet work-performance criteria. Eligibility is also based on a minimum number of work hours over a specified time period.
No Limits on Courses or Careers
No limit is placed on the number of scholarships awarded each year, and no restrictions are made on a student’s course of study. Recipients may choose any area of study from an accredited college and enter any field they desire upon graduation.
“We are proud to be able to offer our scholarship program for over 40 years.” Wegmans President and CEO Colleen Wegman says. “It is an important way that we help our people achieve their goals through higher education, while also growing their career and becoming their best. We are grateful to work with such caring people committed to excellence in all they do.”
She also reports many scholarship winners decide to stay with Wegmans after college.
