COLLEGEVILLE PA – Hungry for chicken? Here’s something to cluck about.
Speck’s Broasted Chicken Restaurant, at 3969 Ridge Pk., Collegeville, has been serving up tasty chicken pieces and meals since 1953. On Wednesday (March 25, 2026), business rating website Yelp added Speck’s to a collection of Philadelphia area locations it says that offers patrons “peak fried chicken vibes.”
“Speck’s is a Collegeville classic that’s been serving crispy fried chicken for over 70 years in a retro, ticket-and-table style space,” Yelp’s Philadelphia community manager wrote.
“Guests can pick their favorite pieces, and each order arrives hot, perfectly crispy, and not overly greasy,” its description noted. “The juicy thighs and old-school value keep regulars coming back, whether dining in or picking up a big family meal.”
Speck’s was listed seventh among Yelp’s 10 selections. The majority were located in Philadelphia. The remaining two are in Bryn Mawr and Upper Darby, respectively.
This isn’t Speck’s only honor, by the way … just the latest. During 2023 it was proclaimed a “best fried chicken” winner by Philadelphia Magazine. Between 2009 and 2017, it also has been a winner of a series of “Best of MontCo” awards.

Charlotte Street Coffee, Aston’s Riverlily Partner Up

POTTSTOWN PA – If things occasionally seem busier than usual at the Charlotte Street Coffee Company locations in Pottstown (59 N. Charlotte St.) and Boyertown (30 E. Philadelphia Ave.), it’s because business is growing.
Charlotte Street and the just-opened Riverlily Coffee Company, 202 Meetinghouse Rd., Aston PA (Delaware County), announced a new partnership in mid-February. It’s good news for both. It means there’s more coffee to be locally roasted and brewed, more intriguing food to be produced, and more customers to keep satisfied.
Out in Aston, social media comments praise Riverlily for “already making big impressions” in only a few weeks. One reason: its menu is, and isn’t, what some patrons expect.
Sure, Riverlily offers a variety of fresh ground, fresh brewed coffees, lattes, and other beverages; and flights of bagels, too. For a schmear (or more than one), it provides a rotating selection of hand-made cream cheese flavors that include shallot, taziki, horseradish chive, cucumber dill, and others.
Surprisingly, it additionally sells house-made, hand-rolled potato pierogis. One fan suggests eating a plateful for breakfast. There’s also an an assortment of Polish street food.
