POTTSTOWN PA – “Beehive: A ’60s Musical,” considered a nostalgic journey featuring songs made famous by Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Janis Joplin, and others, is being offered for 11 performances through Feb. 22 (Sunday) at Steel River Playhouse, 245 E High St.
Described as an “electrifying musical revue,” the show celebrates powerful female voices and unforgettable music of the 1960s. It is set against the backdrop of the civil rights movement, the women’s movement, and the evolution of rock and soul.
“Beehive is pure joy — bold, emotional, and packed with music that still resonates today,” says Rita Pederson, Steel River’s executive director. “This show is a celebration of female empowerment, extraordinary talent, and the enduring power of live theater. We are so excited to bring this incredible cast and this iconic music to our audiences.”
“Beehive” stars an all-female cast that includes Liana Donato, Ava Fazekas, Jessica Handler, Chrissy Lawson, Kristen Nields, Jillian Purdy, and Amanda Steckerl. The musical is directed by Rebecca Futty.
