HARRISBURG PA – About $7.9 million in state grants to support 27 separate transportation and sewer infrastructure projects across Montgomery, Berks, and Chester counties were awarded Tuesday (Jan. 20, 2026) by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
The money benefits the Montgomery County municipalities of Pottstown, Royersford, Schwenksville (2), Green Lane, Red Hill, and Marlborough boroughs; and Douglass, Limerick, Skippack, New Hanover, Upper Hanover, Lower Salford (2), Upper Frederick, and Upper Providence townships (2).
Also receiving assistance are the Chester County municipalities of Phoenixville, Spring City and Elverson boroughs, and North Coventry (3) and East Pikeland townships.
Berks County benefits, too, with money for projects in Washington and Amity townships, and at the Berks-Montgomery Municipal Authority.
The grant awards were announced by 24th District state Sen. Tracy Pennycuick; and 44th District state Sen. Katie Muth.

Transportation Grants

Local transportation projects receiving grants from the authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund are:
- Red Hill Borough, $210,036, for the Northwest Neighborhood Multimodal Improvements Project;
- Schwenksville Borough, $77,283, for Pedestrian Safety Upgrades at Church and Main Street;
- Douglass Township (Montgomery County), $232,925, for the County Line Road Bridge Replacement Project
- Green Lane Borough, $191,167, for the PA 29 Perkiomen Trailhead Improvement Project;
- Limerick Township, $550,000, for Phase 2 of the Lightcap Road Roadway Improvement Project;
- Skippack Township, $1,000,000, for the Perkiomen Creek Road Bridge Replacement Project;
- Upper Hanover Township, $175,335, for the Schoolhouse Road and SR 663 Radius Improvement Project;
- Acquisition Corp. Holding, $500,000, for improvements along South Collegeville Road at its intersection with Perkiomen Boulevard in Upper Providence Township;
- Royersford Borough, $139,025, for street scape improvements there along Main Street between 6th and 7th Avenues;
- Phoenixville Hospital, $350,000, to complete sidewalk repairs in Phoenixville; and
- Spring City Borough, $291,660, for roadway and sidewalk improvements along Hall Street.

Projects named by the authority to receive money through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program are:
- Berks-Montgomery Municipal Authority, $100,000, for its Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project;
- Green Lane Marlborough Joint Authority, $411,000, for its Priority Sanitary Sewer System Repairs Project;
- New Hanover Township Authority, $350,000, for its Slide Gate Replacement Project.
- Washington Township, $76,565, for its Weinsteiger Pump Station Emergency Generator Project;
- Pottstown Borough Authority – $424,589 for Phase 3 of its Lead Service Replacement Project;
- Amity Township, $250,000, for its Interceptor Improvements Project along SR 662;
- Lower Salford Township Authority, $100,000, for its Main Street Sewer Rehabilitation Project;
- Lower Salford Township Authority, $100,000, for its Harleysville Wastewater Treatment Plant Catwalk Installation Project;
- Schwenksville Borough Authority, $341,965, for its Main Street Water Main Replacement Project;
- Upper Frederick Township, $200,000, for Phase 1 of its Perkiomen Crossing Water Upgrade Project;
- Upper Providence Township, $400,000, for the Linfield Trappe Sprouse Circle Sanitary Sewer Extension project;
- North Coventry Municipal Authority, $165,000, for a wastewater treatment plant improvement project;
- North Coventry Municipal Authority, $120,175, for the Bridge 311: Sanitary Sewer Relocation Project;
- North Coventry Municipal Authority, $65,232, for a wastewater pumping stations security fencing project;
- Valley Forge Sewer Authority, $305,000, for the Snyder Avenue, East Pikeland, Sewer Extension project; and the
- Elverson Borough Municipal Authority, $200,815, for the Saddler Sewage Pump Station No. 4 improvement project.
The multimodal transportation program provides grants to ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to state residents. The small water and sewer program awards grants to projects for construction, improvement, expansion, rehabilitation, or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system, or flood control.
