HARRISBURG PA – More than $4 million in funds provided by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency will pay, in part, for mental health and other programs in Montgomery, Berks, and Chester counties, 44th District state Sen. Katie Muth announced Friday.
A significant amount of the money is targeted to deal “with the impacts of domestic violence, substance abuse, and other mental health issues,” Muth says. The commission earlier during the week approved the distribution of funds available from a variety of state and federal sources.
More than $2.4 million was allocated in Montgomery County:
- $181,001 for the county firearm suicide prevention and postvention program;
- $382,284 for the expansion of its recovery and re-entry supports program;
- $500,000 for the Diagnostic & Rehabilitation Center One-Stop-Shop Initiative, operated by Gaudenzia;
- $500,000 for The Lincoln Center for Family and Youth collaborative community response to opioid and substance abuse;
- $315,333 in Rights and Services Act and the Victims of Juvenile Offenders funds, for the county District Attorney’s Office;
- $117,736 in Rights and Services Act funds, for the Victim Services Center of Montgomery County;
- $111,032 for the county’s Victims of Juvenile Offenders initiative, and its Juvenile Probation Office;
- $28,416 for the Domestic Violence Legal Advocacy Project of The Women’s Center of Montgomery County;
- $199,800 for expansion of the county opioid use disorder/substance use disorder medication assisted treatment program;
- $49,960 for The Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center’s Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing training for accessible care; and
- $50,000 for The Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center as one of the National Children’s Alliance members.
Allocated in Berks County was more than $527,000:
- $352,607 for the county District Attorney’s Victim/Witness Assistance Unit;
- $125,000 for the Berks County STOP Team 2025-2027; and
- $50,000 for the Children’s Advocacy Center director salary and operational expenses.
More than $1.12 million was allocated to Chester County:
- $192,889 for a project focused on a public health approach to suicide prevention;
- $499,970 for the Chester County Prison Medication Assisted Treatment Enhancement Initiative;
- $331,681 for the county’s Rights and Services Act and the Victims of Juvenile Offenders 2025-26 programs;
- $26,126 to provide services for survivors of domestic violence;
- $50,000 for the county Children’s Advocacy Center assistant; and
- $23,144 for drug recognition expert training in Phoenixville Borough.
“I appreciate the continued work of our counties, municipalities, and service providers for their work to help individuals who are in need of resources and support,” the senator adds.
