ROCHESTER NY – Customers shopping in five Wegmans Markets’ locations across Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware counties donated a combined total of more than $104,000 to the company’s fall 2025 Check Out Hunger campaign, it reports.
All of that money was forwarded by Wegmans to area food banks, it says, to ensure it benefited local residents in need.
According to the company:
- Money collected at Wegmans’ Collegeville site, $18,070, was given to the Cluster Outreach Center in Pottstown;
- Funds raised in its King of Prussia and Concordville stores, $36,227, were distributed to Philadelphia-based Philabundance. It serves smaller food banks locally; and
- Collected from its Downingtown and Malvern stores, $50,092 went to the Chester County Food Bank in Exton.
The local amounts are part of nearly $3.1 million the campaign collected this year in 114 stores across 10 states, the company adds. It also adds that, since its start more than 30 years ago, the Check Out Hunger campaign has raised more than $58 million for hunger relief.
The 2025 campaign raised the third-highest amount in its history, Wegmans notes. Company-wide, customers reportedly donated $570,000 more than in 2024. The campaign, which operated between Oct. 22 and Nov. 29, allowed customers to donate any amount at checkout registers. All proceeds were earmarked for each store’s local Feeding America food bank partner.
Funding at a Critical Moment
This year’s campaign occurred during “a critical moment when our food bank partners faced a surge in demand, caused by the government shutdown and suspension of SNAP benefits,” says Deana Percassi, a Wegmans’ vice president. “We are deeply grateful to our customers and employees, who donated so generously.”
Additionally, Wegmans’ stores provide daily donations to local food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens across all its market areas. In 2024, the company says its sites donated more than 36.6 million pounds of food to neighbors in need.
