Coventry Singers, Keystone Villa Present Holiday Concerts

November 17, 2025

In upcoming live presentations, The Coventry Singers return with an all-new holiday concert Dec. 6-7 in Pottstown and Gilbertsville, respectively. At Keystone Villa in Douglassville, six separate concerts are scheduled from Dec. 2-23. All are open to the public.

Coventry Singers Present ‘Amahl’ in Two December Concerts

POTTSTOWN PA – A concert version of Gian Carlo Menotti’s holiday classic, “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” will be among music scheduled for Dec. 6 and 7 shows (2025; Saturday and Sunday) by The Coventry Singers.

The Pottstown-based choral group has offered Christmas holiday concerts for many years, and the Menotti composition is a new innovation for the first half of this year’s shows, it says. It and other festive music, carols, and songs will be offered Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. in Cedarville United Methodist Church, 1092 Laurelwood Rd., Pottstown; and Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. at New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2941 Lutheran Rd., Gilbertsville.

Freewill donations are accepted for admission at the doors.

“Amahl” is a one-act opera commissioned by the NBC television network, and first presented live during December 1951 on its NBC Opera Theatre program.

Described as “a disabled boy who can walk only with a crutch,” Amahl sees the star of Bethlehem in the night sky. Later, while traveling to adore the Christ child, the three kings of the Magi stop at Amahl’s home. Amahl’s disability is miraculously healed when he offers his crutch to the kings for presentation to the child as a gift.

The Coventry Singers are conducted by Cheryl Markofski, and accompanied by Eleanor Lundy. Soloists will include Mary Jo Heacock, Ava Berkosky, Daniel Ramsey, Jesse Shutt, and Matthew Ramsey. The concerts are being sponsored by the Tri County Auto Group.
