VALLEY FORGE PA – Recent cuts in federal food aid, which began Saturday (Nov. 1, 2025) and may persist for some time, has left “even more families struggling to put food on the table,” the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board reports. As a result, it decided to extend its “Freedom From Hunger” fund-raising campaign through Dec. 31.
The campaign, which began in September, raises money to benefit Montgomery County’s Anti-Hunger Network. Its goal is to “fight food insecurity right here” within the county borders, the board notes. So far, it adds, the “campaign has already made a meaningful impact this fall, thanks to the incredible support of our community.”
But without future federal assistance to feed individuals and families, the need for outside help like that of the campaign “is urgent and growing,” according to the board.
Every donation, of any size, can keep area residents – potentially some of them your neighbors – from going hungry. Just a $1 donation buys seven meals or 12 pounds of food, the board says. A $5 contribution amounts to 35 meals or 60 pounds of edibles. A $25 gift to the fund results in 175 meals, or 300 pounds of food.
Campaign donations can “make Montgomery County stronger, one meal at a time,” the board suggests. “Together, we can ensure no neighbor goes hungry this holiday season,” it adds. Online donations go “directly towards food purchasing” for (the) network of more 70 food pantries and free meal providers.

Restaurants, Suppliers Join ‘Freedom from Hunger’ Drive
KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Several western Montgomery County restaurants, and other area businesses, are among early supporters of a returning fund-raiser to relieve hunger.
Inaugural participants in this year’s Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board collection, which benefits the MontCo Anti-Hunger Network, was announced Friday (Sept. 20, 2024). The board hopes its 10th annual “Freedom from Hunger Drive” will raise the monetary equivalent of 90,000 pounds of food.
Proceeds from the drive will be distributed by the network to its almost 70 providers of free meals to food-insecure individuals. Every dollar in donations can buy 12 pounds of food, or seven meals, to feed those who occasionally or regularly go without one.
The drive’s business local participants include:
Sweet Ashley’s Chocolates in Royersford, Blossom Café in Skippack; and Workhorse Brewing Company and Bartaco Restaurant, both in King of Prussia. All four are donating a portion of their sales of selected products to the drive. Fogo De Chao Restaurant in King of Prussia also is a donor.
Other business contributors to the “Freedom from Hunger Drive” are Boyd’s Cardinal Hollow Winery, Aneu Kitchen, The Reliable Companies, Conlin’s Print, King of Prussia Mall, Madden Media, Black Powder Tavern, Simpleview, and Giant Food Stores in Willow Grove, Wynnewood, King of Prussia, and Norristown.
Public contributions to the drive are welcomed and appreciated. They are being accepted by the network online.
