LIMERICK PA – A second ambulance from Harleysville-based Freedom Valley Medical Rescue has been designated to serve Limerick residents, township officials announced Tuesday (Oct. 28, 2025). It is the first time Limerick will have two ambulance crews serving within its borders, they add.
The newest ambulance crew will be dispatched with the designator “376B” from the Limerick Fire Department’s Linfield Station, 1077 Main St., Linfield PA. The designation was issued by the Emergency Communications Division of the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, and approved for use within the county 9-1-1 system.
The initial ambulance continues to operate from the Limerick Station, 390 W. Ridge Pk.
Adding the ambulance and crew represent the latest effort in what the township describes as “a long-range public safety goal” of its Board of Supervisors.
Supervisors say the new arrivals enhance local emergency medical services (EMS), and also provide support which enables Freedom Valley to expand its regional reach.
Pennycuick, Ciresi Provided Assistance
The township recognized efforts of 24th District state Sen. Tracy Pennycuick and 146th District state Rep. Joe Ciresi. Both offered assistance of their offices, and helped obtain state grants to buy new ambulances and equipment, Limerick reports.
Other regional EMS agencies are expected to continue serving Limerick residents as well, the township explains in a media release.
Overall, the township claims the supervisors’ years-long “business strategies” have served to “support and strengthen” all first responders within Limerick, including its police and fire departments. The municipality’s planning for the fire department “has enabled it to remain an all-volunteer organization,” its says. As a result, it adds, Limerick taxpayers save about $5 million annually.
