POTTSTOWN PA – A full day of special fun for kids, and the unveiling of a new second-floor play space, are on the agenda Saturday (Sept. 27, 2025) at the Pottstown Children’s Discovery Center, 95 S. Hanover St.
As it did last year, the center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will observe Saturday as the “Worldwide Day of Play.” It is intended to “to celebrate community, creativity, and the joy of play.” Additionally, at 10:30 a.m., center officials and guests will conduct a ribbon-cutting to open its new second floor. They also will introduce a new exhibit.
Play for the day in part will focus on many things “apple”-related.
Attendance at the ribbon-cutting is free with advance registration. However, general admission tickets or an annual membership are required for anyone entering the center. Tickets can be purchased in advance, also online.
The center during mid-June officially opened its refurbished and air-conditioned museum and play facilities, and set its regular weekly operating dates and times. Executive Director Beth Desch also announced at the event that planning for the second-floor expansion was under way.
Statewide, as Well as Worldwide
In addition to the Pottstown Children’s Discovery Center, eight other museums across Pennsylvania are holding Worldwide Days of Play.
They include The Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, Bucks County Children’s Museum in New Hope, Keystone Kidspace in York, A Quaint Corner Children’s Museum in Altoona, The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Neighborhood North Museum of Play in Beaver, Kane Area Children’s Museum in Kane, and expERIEnce Children’s Museum in Erie.
The event, produced globally by the Nickelodeon television network, is administered by the Association of Children’s Museums in Arlington VA.
