Apps Now Online for Hill Student Philanthropy Grants

August 26, 2025

POTTSTOWN PA – Applications are now being accepted from Pottstown-area nonprofit organizations interested in obtaining a 2026 grant from The Hill School’s Student Philanthropy Council.

Details on filing a request, as well as completing an application form and providing supplemental documents, are available now online.

Grants are generally awarded by the student-run council for programs that “have a direct impact on the Pottstown area.” Proposals should address specific community needs, and should not reflect general operating expenses.

Applicants are discouraged from requesting more than $5,000. Last year the council distributed a total of $30,000 to 11 recipients that received an average of $2,727. For 2026, the council says it hopes to present grants to at least six distinct organizations.

Recipients of earlier grant rounds may re-apply for an additional award. However, they must demonstrate how new funding would further enhance, expand, or broaden the success of their existing program.

Applications Due by Oct. 22

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through Oct. 22 (2025; Wednesday) by 5 p.m. Applicants concerned about meeting this deadline may contact the council in advance by sending an e-mail to spc@thehill.org.

Completing their review may take several months. Reviews likely will include site visits, and a Zoom meeting with non-profit representatives.

Recipients are scheduled to be announced in early March. All applicants will be acknowledged April 10 for their community work, during a 1:30 p.m. all-school assembly of Hill students and faculty.

The council was established in 2008 through a gift to The Hill School by alumnus the late Charles A. Frank III and his wife, Betty. Through the Franks’ leadership, and the generosity of several other donors, the council became an endowed program in 2012. Its endowment is named in honor Kay and David Dougherty.
