Constellation Raises $60,000 to Benefit Pottstown School

POTTSTOWN PA – A recent golf outing held by the Limerick Clean Energy Center, operated by Constellation Energy Corp., raised more than $60,000 to help build a new playground at the Pottstown School District’s Barth Elementary School.

More than 250 people, including golfers and volunteers, participated in the event to benefit the school. It was held July 25 (2025; Friday) at Hickory Valley Golf Course in Gilbertsville.

“Giving back to our local community is a top priority,” center Vice President Mike Gillin said. “It is just one way we can show our appreciation” to the Pottstown community and its support throughout the years, he added.

Barth Elementary Principal Michael Ishler characterized the gift as “more than an investment in equipment and infrastructure. It is a powerful statement of belief in the potential of every child.”

Barth serves a “a community where many families face economic challenges,” Ishler noted. Constellation’s “generosity ensures that our students will have access to a safe, inclusive, and inspiring place to learn, play, and grow,” he said.

The Limerick Clean Energy Center, formerly known as the Limerick Generating Station, sits on 600 acres along the Schuylkill River in Pottstown.

FirstEnergy Grant Meets Local Food Needs

READING PA – A $100,000 grant from FirstEnergy Foundation, the charitable arm of the FirstEnergy Corp. electric utilities, will help feed Berks County children and adults who face food insecurity, the foundation reported Wednesday (Aug. 13, 2025).

Its donation benefits the United Way of Berks County and its recent “Big Cheese” event. That’s where community volunteers gathered to assemble packages providing more than 500,000 meals for distribution to hungry. The Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank, and other local food banks, delivered the packaged meals.

FirstEnergy Pennsylvania President John Hawkins says the foundation’s gift honors the United Way’s 100th anniversary.

United Way estimates one in five Berks County residents, 25,000 of them children, lack sufficient food. More than three in five local school-age children qualify for free or reduced-cost lunches.
