POTTSTOWN PA – Due to the surprising arrival of last-minute entries, public registration to join the 2025 Regional Home Garden Contest has been extended until Friday (June 27, 2025).

The annual event invites residents from across the greater Pottstown region to cultivate beauty, build community, and compete for prizes in eight creative categories. Registration is free, and open to all ages and skill levels. Winners may receive up to $200 in cash.
Gardens will be judged based on maintenance, plant condition, layout, variety, aesthetic value, and creativity. Judging will occur in July, with a public tour scheduled for July 12 (Saturday) from 8 a.m. to noon.
The contest looks to inspire wellness, strengthen neighborly connections, and enhance the region’s aesthetic and environmental health. It’s organized by the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation, Mosaic Community Land Trust, and Building a Better Boyertown to celebrate the creative spirit and commitment of local gardeners.
Residents of boroughs of Pottstown and Boyertown, and the townships of Douglass (Montgomery and Berks counties), New Hanover, Upper Pottsgrove, Lower Pottsgrove, West Pottsgrove, North Coventry, East Coventry, and Colebrookdale all are eligible to participate.
Eight Creative Categories

Participants can compete in one of eight creative categories: General Garden – Small, General Garden – Large, Pleasant Porch, Outdoor Oasis, Pocket Garden, Curb Appeal, Edible Garden, and Youth Gardener (for gardeners aged 18 and younger).
“Gardening offers so many benefits, from promoting physical and mental wellness to building a stronger sense of community,” foundation Marketing and Communications Specialist Samuel Mirarchi says. “This contest celebrates the pride residents take in making their neighborhoods more beautiful and vibrant.”
The event is possible thanks to support of sponsors that includes the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (gold leaf sponsor), Jermacans Style (silver leaf sponsor), and Trellis for Tomorrow (green leaf sponsor). Their contributions are “helping to bring people together and support projects that inspire a healthier, greener region, organizers report.
Tour Introduces Beautiful Gardens
The July 12 regional tour also is open to the public. It offers a self-guided tour showcasing some of the area’s most beautiful private gardens from the 2024 Gardens Contest. Participants will receive a map and descriptions of the gardens one week prior to the tour date and will be able to visit the gardens at their own pace during the four-hour event.
Advance tickets for the tour cost $20, or $25 on the day of the event, for adults; and $10 for those age 16 and younger. Tickets will soon be available for purchase online, or by contacting event organizers directly.
