STOWE PA – Construction work planned at Old Timer’s Field – the recreational area behind the West Pottsgrove Township municipal building, 980 Grosstown Rd. – will require the field’s closure for about three months, the township reports.

Access will be restricted starting Monday (June 9). The Old Timer’s baseball field and surrounding areas will be under construction for improvements, the West Pottsgrove website announced. However, the nearby basketball court, pavilion, and playground areas will remain open and available.
The project reportedly includes field drainage, upgrading fencing, LED lighting systems, re-grading and re-paving the parking area (including Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades), stormwater improvements, and other amenities.
A $294,875 contract for the work was awarded May 7 to Land-Tech Enterprises of Warrington PA by the township Board of Commissioners, its minutes show.
Roughly $80,000 in grants were obtained for the work, according to a Pottstown Area Regional Recreation Committee funding plan. Providing grants are the:
- Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Planning Commission,
- William & Dorothy Yeck Family Foundation,
- Montgomery County 2040,
- Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation, and
- Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources
The refurbished field is anticipated to be ready for play by this fall, the township says.

Also Starting Monday, Grosstown Road Paving

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – In a separate and unrelated notice, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) says resurfacing of Grosstown Road also is planned to start Monday.
The work will be conducted in two shifts daily over a five-day period (through Friday, June 13), from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. overnights. During the period, a lane closure with flagging will be in place on Grosstown Road between High Street and Berks Street. A PennDOT-assigned crew will perform milling, paving, and utility construction.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when through the work areas. Backups and delays will occur, PennDOT says. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.
