Pottstown Artists Guild Juried Show Opening June 13

Pottstown Artists Guild Juried Show Opening June 13

June 2, 2025

PENNSBURG PA – The annual Juried Fine Art Show conducted by the Pottstown Area Artists Guild is preparing for its 2025 debut, with an array of artists, a diverse collection of works, and a variety of mediums and styles.

The show is scheduled to open June 13 (2025; Friday) in the Putera Meeting Room of the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center, 105 Seminary St., Pennsburg PA. It runs through July 11 (Friday), and will celebrate its participants during a reception planned for June 22 (Sunday) from 2-5 p.m., also at the Schwenkfelder.

Regular gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

Stover Serves as Guest Juror

The Guild during March issued its call to artists interested in joining the show. It has worked over several months with guest juror Craig Stover as he selected pieces that reflect both their creativity and knowledgeable use of materials.

Stover has lived in Philadelphia for more than 30 years. He is widely known in the Philly arts scene as an artist, teacher, curator, and art administrator; and operates a studio in the city’s Fairmount neighborhood. He also hosts a weekly artist interview program on YouTube, called ArtShow.

During the past decade, Stover served as executive director for the Allens Lane Art Center. There he oversaw its summer art camp, produced more than 60 productions in the Allens Lane Theater, curated more than 100 exhibitions in the Alber Galleries, and developed a wide variety of classes in the visual and performing arts.

Artists’ Reception June 22

The highlight of the show will be its June 22 artists’ reception at the Schwenkfelder. The afternoon program features five selected artists who will talk about their works, opportunities for the public to meet artists they admire and discuss their vision and inspirations, an awards presentation, and chances to win gift certificates and a cash raffle.

Guild members also have created a new full-color show booklet to be distributed at the reception. Designed for year-round reference, it features large images of exhibitors art, along with artist contact information. Many pieces are anticipated to be available for purchase.

A variety of donors are sponsoring this year’s show awards. They include Carl and Sylvia Landis, for the Joseph F. Landis Founders’ Award; Wolf, Baldwin & Associates, P.C., second place; Paul and Mary Friel, third place; The Hill School, The Perkiomen School, and state Rep. Joe Ciresi, excellence awards; Red Kieffer’s Auto Repairs, honorable mention; and the Guild, for its People’s Choice Award.

Harpist Betsy Chapman will offer music during the reception. A musician since age 5 and one who plays several instruments, Chapman began study of the harp in 1988. As a professional for IBM, she was able to combine work with study and learn from teachers in the U.S. and France. Chapman has performed for Steel River Playhouse in Pottstown, and for film, television, Renaissance faires, and other events.

The harp also serves Chapman as an instrument of healing. She is certified as a clinical musician and vibroacoustic harp therapist; plays for Caring Hospice, and as served as an advisory member of the National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians.
