STOWE PA – A portion of Fairview Street in Stowe, between Monroe and Jefferson streets, was blocked by barricades Sunday (May 25, 2025). It ensured the safety of smiling visitors who admired beautifully finished cars and motorcycles as they wandered across the parking lot of nearby St. Gabriel’s Lodge. That’s where an anticipated “Car and Bike Show” was under way.
The event is conducted by the American Legion Riders program of American Legion Post 626 in Birdsboro PA. It helps the non-profit organization raise funds to benefit veterans and expand public awareness.
Among guests who spent considerable time looking at the glittering hardware, it also spread the joy and wonder that handsome vintage and newer vehicles often instill in their beholders.
Anyone who had a cruising vehicle was welcome to join the show for a modest donation. Plenty of vehicle owners responded to the Riders’ call, as they pulled into lodge parking spaces and pulled out their polishing cloths.

For some entrants, the goal was to win one of the “best of” prizes to be awarded at 12:30 p.m. For others … well, they simply wanted to have people see their set of wheels. Spectators were admitted free.
The day presented a variety of entertainments beyond the vehicles. Food was available on site. Disc jockey Rich Quillman spun car-themed music, with songs by The Beach Boys, and Jan and Dean, among the favorites. A raffle and a 50-50 drawing both proved to be attractions.
The Legion Riders in Birdsboro were chartered in 2015, according to the Post 626 website. Its member meetings are held monthly, and events and happenings are published online at its Facebook or Instagram pages. For more information, send an e-mail to alriders626@gmail.com.
