Enjoy Memorial Day, but Remember Our Heroes’ Sacrifices

Four different parades – in Pottstown, Boyertown, Trappe-Collegeville, and Harleysville – are scheduled during this weekend (May 23-26, 2025; Friday through Monday) to celebrate Memorial Day.

Additionally, and equally important, five Memorial Day services will be held in Pottstown, Boyertown, Trappe-Collegeville, King of Prussia, and Norristown. They are dedicated to, and acknowledge the memories of, those who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our nation.

Here’s a list assembled for the Travels With The Post extended calendar.

Saturday, May 24

  • Historical Society of Montgomery County Memorial Day Observance, starts at 11 a.m., free to attend; the society honors the service of soldiers and veterans interred at Montgomery Cemetery; wreaths to be laid at monuments for Gen. John Frederick Hartranft, Gen. Winfield Scott Hancock, the Memorial Rose Garden, and at the G.A.R. Zook Post #11 Plot; held at Montgomery Cemetery, 1 Hartranft Ave., Norristown PA; and
  • Harleysville Country Fair Days Parade, starts at 11 a.m., free participation and free to attend; assembles at and starts from Indian Valley Middle School on Maple Avenue, Harleysville PA

Monday, May 26

Enjoy Memorial Day, and Remember Our Heroes' Sacrifices
  • Boyertown Memorial Day Parade and Service, starts at 9:30 a.m. (rain or shine), free participation and free to attend; line-up starts at 8:30 a.m. at Boyertown High School’s Monroe Street entrance, parade route will travels west on Philadelphia Avenue to the Fairview Cemetery, ending with a Memorial Day service there; sponsored in part by Boyertown American Legion Post 0471; in downtown Boyertown PA;
  • Pottstown Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony, starts at 10 a.m., free to attend; parade begins at Goodwill Steam Fire Engine Company, 714 E. High St., and proceeds to Memorial Park, 75 W. King St.; ceremony follows beginning at 11 a.m. at Veterans’ Island to honor those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces; in downtown Pottstown PA;
  • Collegeville-Trappe Memorial Day Parade and Observances, starts at 10 a.m., free to attend; 10 a.m. parade route starts from Augustus Lutheran Church at West Main Street and East 7th Avenue to to Waterworks Park, 220 W. First Ave.; post-parade activities that include a remembrance service, community concert, and community day in Waterworks Park start at 11 a.m., across Trappe and Collegeville PA; and
  • Memorial Day Remembrance Service, starts at 11 a.m., free to attend (donations of $10 are welcomed); features a Choral Matins, special guest speaker U.S. Air Force veteran 2nd Lt. Frank Spano, a barbeque lunch, and the Washington Memorial Chapel’s annual Memorial Day carillon concert; conducted by the chapel Veteran’s Commission; held at the chapel, 2000 Valley Forge Rd., King of Prussia PA.

Also, according to Main Line Parent magazine, other parades and ceremonies have been announced in Narberth, Ardmore, Radnor, Gladwyne, Kennett Square, Media, Malvern, and Devon. Find informational links about each online, here.

Spotlight PA. An investigative news service for Pennsylvania, supported by several news organizations statewide. It is starting a Berks County Edition.
