SPRING CITY PA – Men and women of Liberty Fire Company have raced to the assistance of Spring City Borough and East Vincent Township residents during past emergencies, large and small. Now, according to borough Mayor Adam Alberico, those protected residents have similarly and overwhelmingly heeded calls to assist their protectors.

In battling a recent intense blaze, members of the non-profit fire company consumed much of their stored supply of bottled water, the mayor explains in an message to Travels With The Post. That’s water they need to keep hydrated and stay safe on a fire scene, Alberico adds. Unsurprisingly, it’s also water that must be replenished … at a cost.
So Alberico and others during mid-April began to rally community support to re-stock the fire company’s resources. No one asked for money. They instead urged families and local businesses in the municipalities to each donate “just one case of bottled water.”
“Every contribution makes a difference,” Alberico acknowledges, “and this (was) one small way we can show our appreciation for their service.
The fire company, in a post Tuesday (May 13, 2025) on its Facebook page, thanked the public, Alberico, neighbors Zenon Janicki and Joseph Groarke (who provided a collection trailer at 20 S. Main St.), and others for their generosity. The company gathered more than 200 cases of fluids – everything from spring water to energy drinks – in its hydration drink drive.
And, yes, some gave money too.

“When the drive was started by the firefighters, no one knew it was going to grow” as big as it did, the company reports. “Thank you,” it wrote on Facebook. “As we continue to serve our great borough of Spring City and East Vincent Township, it makes us proud to know that the residents support us, so again thank you to everyone.”
The drive officially ended during the weekend.
The response seemed to be exactly what Alberico expected. It became a moment, he suggests, in which residents of the fire company’s coverage area “stand together, support one another, and take care of those who always answer the call.”
