Grandview Cancels in Storm Threat; Nature’s No Race Fan?

Grandview Cancels in Storm Threat; Nature’s No Race Fan?

May 3, 2025

BECHTELSVILLE PA – Does Mother Nature have something against local auto racing? Maybe it just appears that way. But to avoid taking chances, management at Grandview Speedway, 43 Passmore Rd., on Saturday afternoon (May 3, 2025) canceled its night racing schedule ahead of a predicted threat of heavy thunderstorms.

The preemptive postponement represents the fourth rain call-off during the first five weeks of Grandview’s 2025 racing campaign. Rain “also claimed the events on April 5, 12 and 26,” the track acknowledges.

Saturday’s program was to be the second NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series point race of the season for T.P. Trailer Modified and T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman division drivers.

It also would have ushered in the debut of Pro 4 Racing Series Four-Cylinder stock cars. That race, sponsored by PWD Lubricants of Warminster PA, is being rescheduled. That series is expected to join the T.P. Trailer Modified and T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman on May 31 (Saturday) starting at 7:30 p.m., Grandview says.

‘Not A Normal Situation’

Although the track admits the recent weather interruptions are “not a normal situation,” they have precedents. During April 2023, rain claimed four of the first five race events to start that year. Then “the weather finally settled down, and the season got rolling,” it adds.

Grandview says it’s hoping “the weather turns around with two events scheduled for next weekend.” If undeterred, that action would begin May 9 (Friday) at 7 p.m. with the Xcel 600 Modifieds. They would be followed by the Outlaw Racing Series Enduro and Outlaw Racing Series Vintage Cars.

It plans pit gates to open May 9 at 2 p.m., with grandstand gates opening at 6 p.m. Grandstand admission will cost $10; children ages 12 and younger will be admitted free. May 9 pit admission costs $30.

Racing action May 10 (Saturday) is set as a double-header for the T.P. Trailer Modifieds and the T. P. Truck Equipment Sportsman. That includes qualifying events for both divisions, leading up to the 30-lap T.P. Trailer Modified and 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman feature events.

Pit gates open May 10 at 3 p.m., with grandstand gates opening at 4:30 p.m., and warm-ups starting at 5:30 p.m. The first race of the evening would get the green flag at 6:30 p.m. Grandstand admission for adults May 10 is $20; students age 10-15 with identification, $10; and ages 9 and younger admitted free. Pit admission May 10 costs $35 with a license, and $45 without.
