Schwenkfelder Trains Exhibit Leaves Its Station Saturday

PENNSBURG PA – Because it will be disassembled Saturday (April 19, 2025), Friday (April 18) will be the last day to catch toy trains on exhibit at the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center, 105 Seminary St. Also, a genealogy club meeting is scheduled Thursday (April 17).

Love model trains, or trains in general? Then the Schwenkfelder’s free exhibit in its Dolloff Local History Gallery is intended for you. “Expect to see some unique and unexpected trains,” it adds.

Toy train collector and Guest Curator Glenn Stinson has identified important pieces from his collection, and others, that are are loan to the center. The exhibit, titled “Next Stop, Pennsburg: A History of Model Trains,” tracks the development of model trains and regional train history. It also will include a variety of train-related ephemera.

A local Genealogy Club, which meets on the third Thursday of every month, is next scheduled to gather Thursday (April 17) at 6:30 p.m. in the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library, 350 Main St., Red Hill PA. Club meetings, free to attend, provide “opportunities for attendees to offer assistance to, and ask for advice from, each other,” the center reports.

Some area residents may be unaware that the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center holds and offers public access to large collections of geneaology resources.

They include published and unpublished church records, published and unpublished family histories, local histories, indexes and other useful books relating to genealogy, newspapers and periodicals, local deeds and land drafts and other items.
