LOWER SALFORD TOWNSHIP PA – Families and their children who live within the PA Senate’s 24th District are invited by state Sen. Tracy Pennycuick to do some free fishing April 12 (2025; Saturday) from 9-11 a.m. The senator’s fourth annual fishing derby will be held at a new location: in Wawa Park, 599 Camp Wawa Rd., Schwenksville.

The event aims to promote outdoor recreation, environmental education, and family engagement. It will be held along the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek, which runs through the park.
In addition to the potential thrill of landing a fish, those attending can learn from experts about Pennsylvania’s natural resources. They’ll discuss “our state’s diverse wildlife and the importance of conservation,” Pennycuick says.
Open to Kids of All Ages
The fishing derby is open to all youth. Advance registration is required by April 10, and is available online or by calling the senator’s Red Hill office at 215-541-2388.
Whether experienced or first-time anglers, all participants are welcome. Those attending are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles and bait.
The fishing derby represents “a wonderful opportunity for families to get outside, enjoy nature, and learn more about our local wildlife and conservation efforts,” the senator adds. “I look forward to welcoming everyone for a memorable morning of fishing and learning.”
