Neighborhood LVHN Hospital, Like Gilbertsville’s, Planned in Hellertown

HELLERTOWN PA – A fourth neighborhood hospital planned by the Lehigh Valley Health Network in Hellertown, Northampton County, will in some ways resemble one the network opened in Gilbertsville during June 2024, it reports.
The network, part of Jefferson Health, expects to open a 90,000-square foot facility on Main Street in Hellertown sometime in mid-2026, it says in an e-mail distributed Tuesday (March 4, 2025). It will be constructed in partnership with Peron Development and the J.G. Petrucci Company, the e-mail adds.
Neighborhood hospitals are licensed and accredited acute care facilities, with a full-service emergency room (ER), the network explains. They are open 24 hours a day, year-round. The Hellertown hospital – like its counterparts in Macungie, Gilbertsville and Tannersville (now under construction) – will offer 11 emergency room beds.
It also will be equipped with 10 in-patient beds for people requiring overnight stays or additional monitoring and testing, the release says. In Hellertown, the hospital will occupy the first floor, and medical offices will cover two upper floors. Medical offices on the Gilbertsville campus occupy a separate building, called the “Health Center at Gilbertsville.”
About 80 percent of hospital ER patients are treated and released the same day, the network says. That makes “neighborhood hospitals a great fit, and a way to reduce ER pressure” on larger facilities.
