WASHINGTON DC – Three Pennsylvania hotels, recognized for their historic qualities by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, also are being acknowledged as among the country’s best places to spend a romantic night.
The three are found on the 2025 list of 25 “Most Romantic Hotels” within the Washington-based trust’s Historic Hotels of America program. Its officials issued the list this month. “The swoon-worthy historic hotels,” they add, are spots where “couples can enjoy quality time together (for) romantic getaways, engagements, weddings, honeymoons, (and) vow renewals.”
Additionally, “these historic hotels offer special romance, wedding, or engagement packages. They serve as starting points “for couples looking to celebrate their love, whether it is an intimate getaway or a celebration with friends and family,” the list suggests.

Generally, all 25 hotels must be at least 50 years old. They also are required to be considered as “historically significant,” with either a designation as a National Historic Landmark, or a listing on or eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places.
Although those listed are not ranked in any specific order, Travels With The Post presents the three in Pennsylvania by their driving distances from Pottstown PA. Accompanied by descriptions from the trust, they are:
The Inn at Leola Village
The Inn at Leola Village in Leola PA, 46 miles southwest of Pottstown, was established in 1867.
“Once an Amish tobacco farm, the inn was saved from demolition and transformed into a warm and inviting countryside getaway where couples can unwind,” the trust reports. It “offers couples the perfect blend of history and modern amenities,” with “carefully preserved cottages (that) boast original woodwork and reflect their Amish heritage.”
“The inn provides luxurious accommodations that feature over-sized whirlpool tubs, cozy fireplaces, fine linens, and thoughtful amenities that set the stage for unforgettable moments. The full-service spa offers couples massages and personalized wellness treatments, creating a peaceful sanctuary for two.”
The Hotel Hershey

The Hotel Hershey in Hershey PA, 66 miles west of Pottstown, was completed in 1933.
“A beautiful setting for a romantic getaway, the hotel was built under the direction of chocolatier and businessman Milton S. Hershey. Hershey was inspired to build this Spanish Colonial Revival-style hotel when his architect showed him a postcard photo of a beautiful hotel in the western Mediterranean, where he had stayed on vacation with his wife.”
“This elegant hotel is set among 300 panoramic acres of manicured gardens and tranquil reflecting pools. Inside, the lobby was designed to look like a Spanish-style courtyard with palm trees, a beautiful fountain, wrought-iron light poles, and a painted ceiling depicting a blue sky.” Also, “guests can book a cocoa couples massage, Sweet Feet For Two pedicure, or the Couples Retreat Day package” at the hotel’s spa.
The Ledges Hotel
The Ledges Hotel in Hawley PA, 110 miles northeast of Pottstown, dates from 1890.
“Located along Wallenpaupack Creek in Hawley … amid the breathtaking scenery of the Pocono Mountains, Ledges Hotel is a cherished destination, offering guests tranquility and relaxation.” Guests arrive to rooms that feature “handcrafted designs, artisan touches, and unique furnishings built from the wood of the original Bellemonte Silk Mill trusses.” There they also “find beautiful flowers, Moka Origins chocolate, and a bottle of sparkling wine.”
“The most romantic spot at this historic hotel is on tiered decks overlooking Paupack High Falls. The Stargazer Deck in particular is popular, as the secluded location looks over the waterfall and gorge. Another outdoor space, called “the ruins,” provides an intimate setting and a secret garden atmosphere for guests, with its Bluestone walls, plants, and patio seating.”
