POTTSTOWN PA – How do you know a musical is not just hot, but really, really hot? Pottstown’s Steel River Playhouse may have the answer: when two of its scheduled seven shows for “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” are sold out ahead of its Feb. 7 (2025; Friday) debut.
Potential patrons probably don’t need this observation, but tickets surely seem to be going fast.
“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is based on the beloved Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz. It follows hapless Charlie Brown and his friends as they explore life’s big questions. The show is told through vignettes that mimic the four-panel format of the original comic. Its songs and moments cover different times of the year, such as Valentine’s Day and baseball season.
The Peanuts characters are presented in everyday struggles with self-doubt, failure, and the quest for acceptance. “Catchy tunes, charming dialogue, and timeless lessons” make the production “perfect for audiences of all ages,” the theater says.
The musical’s “joy, laughter, and nostalgia … reminds us all that happiness is just around the corner, even in life’s littlest moments,” it adds.
Sundays ‘Sold Out;” Others Available
Steel River’s scheduled shows for Feb. 9 and 16, both Sundays, were reported online Thursday (Jan. 16) as sold out. Those interested in either presentation can hope for a cancellation or two, according to the theater. “Please call 610-970-1199 for possible availability,” its ticketing webpage suggests.
The good news is that tickets for five other shows remain available:
- two Friday nights, Feb. 7 and 14, both at 7 p.m.;
- two Saturday nights, Feb. 8 and 15, again at 7 p.m.; and
- a Saturday afternoon “relaxed performance” on Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.
Tickets cost $29 for adults, $24 for seniors age 65 and older, and $17 for students and children age 5 and younger. Place your orders online.
The show runs for about 2 hours and 15 minutes, and includes one intermission. Cast members include Dylan Koch as Charlie Brown, Raven Jane Adilene as Sally, Jessica Koch as Lucy, Andrew Reyes as Linus, Joe Berardi as Schroeder, and Naysa Felix as Snoopy.
The Saturday (Feb. 15) “relaxed performance” is intended as “a welcoming environment for all patrons to enjoy live theater and express themselves freely without judgment,” the playhouse notes. It invites attendance by “individuals with ADD, ADHD, Dementia, Autism, sensory sensitivities, or any patrons who would enjoy a performance where they can freely express themselves.”
