In this edition of Pottstown Foodie, news briefs from Pottstown‘s Urban Gourmet Kitchen, Mr. Sticky’s, The Beekeeper’s Café, and TeeCee Foods; new Flavorful Bowl variations at KFC; and Subway‘s meal-a-day special offers.

Quick Takes from Pottstown Area Restaurants

At The Beekeeper’s Café, soon to be relocated to 206 N. Charlotte St., workers are installing everything from decorative trim to tables to equipment at its new space. The café closed its shop at 939 E. Schuylkill Rd. in Kenilworth on Dec. 21 to ensure time for the transition to downtown Pottstown.

No grand opening date has yet been announced. Its new business cards are already printed, though.

At Urban Gourmet Kitchen, 300 E. High St., it presented a new year-end menu item: Seafood Pan Rice. White rice is sautéed with shrimp, salmon, and crabmeat, then “dusted with butter” and house spices. See it on the kitchen’s Facebook page, or its online menu.

The restaurant also offers a variety of other items. They’re available during business hours on Thursday from 4-8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 2-10 p.m. Need to talk with someone there? Call 484-254-6021.

At Mr. Sticky’s, purveyor of gooey, sticky cinnamon buns and other bakery confections, Lancaster’s loss could be Pottstown’s gain.

The company announced Wednesday (Jan. 8) on its Facebook page that its Lancaster location is temporarily closed, until Jan. 31 (Friday). However the Pottstown store, at 600 Heritage Dr. Unit 102, “is open and we are able to serve you,” management happily told prospective and returning customers alike.

Just for good measure (and a change of pace) Mr. Sticky’s on Jan. 4 (Saturday) also introduced a new Chocolate Strawberry éclair. You may need extra napkins for that.

At TeeCee Foods, at 2162 E. High St., it’s break time.

Its owners and employees, the Obikwelus family, are enjoying some rest and relaxation during the holidays. The restaurant, which specializes in Nigerian fare, closed Dec. 23 and is expected to re-open Jan. 15 (Wednesday).

“May 2025 bring you joy, success, and countless delicious moments,” they wrote on Facebook before their departure. “Thank you for being a part of our journey. We look forward to serving you even better this year.”
