Food Banks Stock Dairy Cases Thanks to 'Fill A Glass' Drive

Food Banks Stock Dairy Cases Thanks to ‘Fill A Glass’ Drive

January 8, 2025

HARRISBURG PA – Food-insecure families and individuals in Montgomery, Berks, and Chester counties will benefit from fresh milk donated during the Pennsylvania Farm Show to local food banks. The donations are part of an annual “Fill a Glass with Hope” milk distribution drive sponsored by PA dairy producers, representatives, and sponsors.

The 2025 Fill A Glass drive received a total of $181,500 in donations. That’s enough to provide more than 726,000 servings of fresh milk to food banks statewide, according to industry data.

Portions of the funds will be received by Philadelphia-based Philabundance, which serves food banks in Montgomery and Chester counties; and by the Reading-based Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank, which serves Berks County. Both are among the nine partner food banks that comprise the Feeding Pennsylvania distribution network.

Fill A Glass marks its 10th anniversary in 2025. “The outpouring of support from our sponsors and partners … is a remarkable reminder of how communities come together to support and uplift their neighbors,” Feeding Pennsylvania CEO Julie Bancroft says.

Program Advocates and Sponsors

Leading advocates include the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, American Dairy Association North East, Feeding Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program, and PA Dairymen’s Association. Donations of $25,000 were received from Columbia Gas and NiSource Foundation, Coterra Energy, the First Energy Foundation, and Weis Markets.

Additionally, Weis Markets and partners donated $50,000 during June 2024 in recognition of National Dairy Month. Also, PA Dairy Princess and Promotion Services Inc. raised more than $5,000 for the cause throughout the year.

Other sponsors are ABARTA Coca-Cola Beverages LLC. and Fairlife, Fulton Bank, Horizon Farm Credit, Land O’Lakes Foundation, Modjeski and Masters Inc., NJM Insurance Group, PA Dairymen’s Association, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, PSECU, Swiss Premium Dairy, Turner Dairy Farms, and Valley Grange #1360.
