In this single-topic edition of Pottstown Foodie, Barrister’s Bagel Company in Pottstown and Royersford endured a difficult weekend with an out-of-order oven. A technician has since solved its problems.
After Weekend Closure, Barrister’s Back to Baking
ROYERSFORD PA – Barrister’s Bagel Company, which operates at locations in Royersford and Pottstown, says problems that began last week with a bagel-baking oven have been solved.
Fresh bagels are expected to be available in both stores beginning Wednesday (Dec. 18, 2024). Customers can get food fastest by submitting a pre-order online, the shops say on Facebook.
The oven in Royersford stopped functioning a week ago, on Dec. 11. The disruption prompted the store to close early that day. Its staff, though, expressed hope that a repairman would quickly arrive to fix the equipment. “Please check back to confirm reopening day,” they wrote in a post. “Thanks for your understanding,” it concluded.
Bakers justifiably worry when an oven on which they depend to make a living not only stops working, but can’t be repaired quickly. The company’s concern was heightened Dec. 12, when its oven issues continued. Both locations closed for a second day. Its online ordering system was turned off, too.
“Repairs to our oven are more challenging than expected,” it acknowledged in a post later the same day. With time running short to make fresh dough, management decided to keep the stores closed during the weekend.
Thankfully, there was joy in Barrister’s Bagel-dom by Monday (Dec. 16).
An “expert bakery technician,” according to the company’s description, apparently made oven magic happen. Its Facebook page happily announced both stores will re-open Wednesday through Sunday (Dec. 18-22) on schedule, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. The online ordering system is back as well, accepting pick-up and delivery purchases.
Barrister’s says it offers “New York-style kettle-boiled bagels made from scratch daily” using “only fresh, high-quality products.”
