In this edition of Pottstown Foodie, popular coffee spot The Beekeeper’s Café in Kenilworth will temporarily close Saturday (Dec. 21). It plans a move north to downtown Pottstown, and expects to re-open in February.

Also, Bob Evans Farmhouse Kitchen in Oaks serves up no-stress holiday meals. Red Lobster in Pottstown offers new food and beverage menu items. Wayback Burgers‘ dining choices have grown by three seasonal additions.

KENILWORTH PA – Some Pottstown residents who regularly trek to The Beekeeper’s Café, 939 E. Schuylkill Rd., claim their short drive south from the borough to Kenilworth creates a sense of anticipation.

They say they look forward to drinking the small shop’s selectively sourced and steaming coffee beverages. Customers also rave about its baked goods, its personal service, and one other thing: its mugs.

Many of the café’s colorfully glazed vessels are weighty, but not cumbersome. They’re pretty, even fashionable, without feeling delicate. Patrons report they’re enjoyable to handle and drink from.

Now the mugs are wrapped up and gone, but only temporarily.

The café this week reports it is serving the last of its beverages in take-away cups. That’s because all available hands are busily packing up to move to downtown Pottstown, at the corner of Beech and Charlotte streets. Its last day of business on East Schuylkill Road is scheduled for Saturday (Dec. 21, 2024).

The café hopes to re-open in its new location, just 5 minutes from the current site, by February.

The move is no sudden secret (although, until the past weekend, its location was). The café has publicized its transition since early November, particularly with a poignant letter to customers that thanked them for “filling this corner of Kenilworth with golden memories.” It opened there during early 2022, and has become steadily busier since.

Some of the growth is attributable to the café’s active in-store and online promotion of other skilled artisans, crafters, and makers. Its efforts to boost their works in turn also brought new audiences to its doors. It’s worth noting that, as a parting gesture, the last event at the café – held Sunday (Dec. 15) – was its annual Makers Market.

So in only a couple of months, give or take, it likely will be the Kenilworth regulars who make the short drive north to the borough with that same sense of anticipation. “Thank you for your grace during this transitional time,” owner Carmel Noel wrote earlier this month in a Facebook post.

“We love seeing the excitement over this move!,” she also adds.

Bob Evans Farmhouse Kitchen

OAKS PA – Bob Evans Farmhouse Kitchen, which operates locally in Oaks, says its returning “Farmhouse Feasts” are complete meals that will reduce holiday stress.

Each meal serves from four to 10 people, “and provides a hassle-free option for those looking to spend … less time in the kitchen,” it adds.

Patrons have a choice of three entrée options: slow-roasted pot roast with caramelized onions and roasted carrots, signature turkey slow-roasted for six hours, or hickory-smoked ham.

Feasts also can be accompanied by hand-crafted sides. Offered are bread-and-celery dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans with ham, macaroni and cheese, cranberry relish, freshly baked rolls, and pumpkin pie.

Meals are packaged cold, ready to heat and serve in two hours. Easy reheating instructions are included. They are now available for advance orders, with carry-out, curbside pickup, or delivery options available through Dec. 23 (2024; Monday).

FSR Magazine reports Bob Evans also is serving similar “Holiday Hot Family Meals To Go,” prepared and ready for travel.
