POTTSTOWN PA – The annual winter show of artworks by members of the Pottstown Area Artists’ Guild has opened in the North Hall Gallery of Montgomery County Community College’s Pottstown campus, 16 E. High St. It’s scheduled to continue through Jan. 31 (2025).
The show displays works from greater Pottstown’s “rich artistic community,” the guild reports. They include paintings, drawings, sculpture, mixed media, photography, collage, and digital art.
A look at all pieces in this year’s show is available online at the guild’s website.
All of the works are competing to win the show’s highly sought People’s Choice Award. Each member of the visiting public can select two of works in the exhibits as their People’s Choice candidates. The votes will be tallied Feb. 1, after the show closes, and the announced winner will receive a $100 prize.
The exhibition is available for viewing during the gallery’s regular operating hours: Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gallery is closed Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, the gallery will close during the college winter break from Dec. 24 through Jan. 1 (2025), and on Jan. 20, the Martin Luther King federal holiday.
Free parking is available at the college lot at 101 College Dr., Pottstown, and is a short and well-lit walk from the gallery. The walking trail also is wheelchair accessible.
An opening reception for the show was held Dec. 6 (Friday).
About the Pottstown Area Artists’ Guild
The guild was formed by seven area artists during 1960, with goals to allow people to “express themselves collectively,” encourage regional art sales, and to promote art appreciation and education.
It currently consists of more than 70 members, and holds two major exhibitions during the spring and winter. It also regularly sponsors “Masters of Art” lectures, as well as a variety of demonstration sessions and workshops.
