In Business: Atelier Arts, Gifts Pops Up; Liquor Board Jobs Open

December 10, 2024

In this edition of local business news, Atelier is a new store at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets dealing in local artisan goods, but only for a limited time. If you’re looking for a job, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has local vacancies.

Atelier Fine Arts and Gifts Boutique Pops Up at Outlets

LIMERICK PA – Business owner Michele Barrett began work months ago to create a “pop-up boutique gallery of fine art and handcrafted gifts” at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets on West Lightcap Road. Over the past weekend (Dec. 5-8, 2024), the public attended holiday events to celebrate the opening of her shop, “Atelier.”

Barrett says her goal “is to create a platform for artisans, both local and throughout North America, that allows them to showcase their craftsmanship and connect with the community.” Supporting “small businesses enriches our community and fosters creativity,” she adds, and hopes to promote what she calls “the incredible talent of our local makers.”

Those makers, according to an Atelier e-mail, include Beth Camella-Rich of Boyertown; Lyn Camella-Rich, Boyertown; Louise Devery, Easton; Will Dexter, Boyertown; GP Candle Co., Wyncote; Sharon Merkel, Allentown; Lynn Millar, Fleetwood; Loraine Houston, Chester Springs; Rainy Leonor-Lake, Pittsburgh; Jeff Lovett and Marit Aagaard, Pittsburgh; Ruth Anne Miller, Blackwell; Karen Palcho, Fleetwood; Sarah Presogna, Pottstown; Jessica and Ian Rogel, Philadelphia; Keith Schell, Oley; Robert Seabourne, Oley; Kerry Smith, Pennsburg; and Erica Vinskie, Boyertown.

Barrett’s store initially opened in mid-November. If you’re interested in taking a look at its wares, though, don’t wait long. She has acknowledged the potentially fleeting nature of her venture, saying it is expected to close by Jan. 25.
