POTTSTOWN PA – “Step into a world where dreams come true, and optimism shines bright,” Steel River Playhouse suggests, as it offers the musical “Annie” from Friday (Dec. 6, 2024) through Dec. 22 at its stage inside 245 E. High St.
Annie’s story, Steel River explains, “is one of hope and resilience in the face of abandonment and hardship.” It promises to “warm your heart and leave you with a smile.” The musical is “filled with laughter (and) toe-tapping tunes, (with) a message that resonates across generations.”
About the Musical
“With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms hearts despite her next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of other girls in the orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world that is New York.”
“She finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks; his personal secretary, Grace Farrell; and a lovable mutt named Sandy.”
“Annie” is directed by Nicolette Adams, who brings “years of experience in theatre and a knack for creating magic on stage” to her work, the playhouse reports. She “has been working closely with the cast and crew to bring this beloved classic to life,” it adds.

Tickets are available for purchase now online, or by calling the Steel River box office at 610-970-1199, or by sending an e-mail to info@steelriver.org. Shows are scheduled for Fridays at 7 p.m. (Dec. 6, 13, and 20); Saturdays at 2 p.m. (Dec. 14 and 21); Saturdays at 7 p.m. (Dec. 7, 14, and 21); and Sundays at 2 p.m. (Dec. 8, 15, and 22).
The Saturday (Dec. 14) show at 2 p.m. is a “relaxed performance,” intended as “a welcoming environment for all patrons to enjoy live theater and express themselves freely without judgment,” the playhouse notes. It invites attendance by “individuals with ADD, ADHD, Dementia, Autism, sensory sensitivities, or any patrons who would enjoy a performance where they can freely express themselves.”
There’s more in store at Steel River, too. Following “Annie” in the playhouse’s 2024-2025 season are:
