Hill School Concert, Candlelit Caroling Assist Beacon of Hope

POTTSTOWN PA – Two special holiday music events, free and open to the public, are scheduled during mid-December at venues on the campus of The Hill School. Both will showcase the talents of its students and staff. Parking for the events also is free, and available in the lot at 760 Beech St., Pottstown.

Additionally, the Hobart’s Run community organization will collect charitable donations of specific items to benefit the Beacon of Hope warming center for homeless individuals.

A Concert to Thrill The Spirit

Hill School musicians will take the stage Dec. 13 (2024; Friday) at 7:15 p.m. in its Center For The Arts main theatre to perform their annual “Winter Holiday Instrumental Concert.”

The Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, led by Director of Instrumental Music and Senior Master Teacher of the Arts Margie Neiswender, will entertain the audience with a variety of holiday favorites. The program includes “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Angels We Have Heard on High,” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”

No reservations or tickets are needed to attend the night “filled with holiday spirit and music.”

A Service of Carols and Readings

Hill School Concert, Candlelit Caroling Assist Beacon of Hope
The annual Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols will be held in The Hill’s Alumni Chapel

The Hill will host its annual Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols only two days following the concert, on Sunday (Dec. 15) at 7:15 p.m. in the school’s Alumni Chapel. It will be preceded by an organ prelude from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m.

The holiday worship service features congregational singing of traditional Christmas carols, and readings of scripture by members of The Hill community. Also performing musical offerings are members of the Hill Chamber Choir and Chorus, the Hilltones and Hilltrebles, and the Hill Community Choir. The community choir is comprised of students, employees, alumni, parents, and siblings.

Beacon of Hope Collections

Beacon of Hope, a Pottstown-based non-profit, provides year-round emergency shelter, a winter warming center from November through May, morning and evening meals, and other services to those experiencing homelessness.

Collection bins for donated items to assist Beacon of Hope and those it serves will be set up by Hobart’s Run on Dec. 13 in the Center for the Arts lobby, and on Dec. 15 near the entrances to the Alumni Chapel. Beacon of Hope thanks the public for its support, and is requesting these specific items for donation:

  • Gift cards for Target and Walmart;
  • $10 gift cards for McDonald’s and Wawa;
  • Men’s underwear and t-shirts in sizes L, XL, XXL; and
  • Men’s and women’s sweatpants and sweatshirts, in men’s sizes M, L, XL, 2XL, and women’s sizes S, M, L, XL.
