In Business: Constellation Tests Sirens; Tower Health Awards Winner; FrommConnect’s Manager

November 26, 2024

In this edition of local business news, Constellation Energy, in Limerick, will test its warning sirens next week. A Tower Health executive earns two leadership awards from professional organizations. Fromm Electric, with a branch in Pottstown, has announced its general manager for a subsidiary company.

Constellation Energy Tests Warning Sirens Dec. 2

LIMERICK PA – A twice-yearly, full-volume test of emergency warning sirens that surround the Limerick nuclear generating station will be held Monday (Dec. 2, 2024) at about 2 p.m., power plant owner Constellation Energy Corp. reports.

The warning system consists of sirens located within a 10-mile radius of Limerick and the station, now called the “Limerick Clean Energy Center.”

The sirens are not a signal to evacuate, Constellation says in a media release. Instead, they are intended to urge area residents to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station. County emergency management authorities activate the sirens.

The clean energy center is located just east of Lower Pottsgrove Township, roughly 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Constellation says it “produces enough carbon-free electricity to power 1.7 million homes.” The company is headquartered in Baltimore MD, and calls itself “the nation’s largest producer of clean, emissions-free energy, and a leading supplier of energy products and services.”

Du recently received an educational leadership award from the Philadelphia chapter of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society. Separately, he also was presented with a business leadership award from Lehigh Valley Business magazine.

The psychiatric society’s Paul J. Fink Leadership Award was given to Du as “a Philadelphia chapter member who demonstrates psychiatric leadership through education, research, community engagement, and advocacy for all mental health consumers.”

The magazine’s ICON Award recognizes Du as among “greater Lehigh Valley business leaders over the age of 60 who have left an indelible mark on their fields, and whose integrity, vision, and selfless service have lifted up the community.”

At Tower, Du also holds the titles of chief academic officer, designated institutional official, and medical director for behavioral health services. Du also serves as a professor and academic chair of psychiatry at Drexel University College of Medicine. Locally, Tower Health operates hospitals in Pottstown and Phoenixville.
