CHDC Wins $600,000 Grant to Expand Behavioral Support

CHDC Wins $600,000 Grant to Expand Behavioral Support

November 26, 2024

POTTSTOWN PA – Community Health & Dental Care Inc. (CHDC) has received a $600,000 federal grant to expand mental health and substance use disorder services across parts of Berks, Montgomery, and Chester counties.

CHDC Wins $600,000 Grant to Expand Behavioral Support

The award is one of only 13 in Pennsylvania presented to federally qualified health centers by the Health Resources and Services Administration. The administration grants are supported by $240 million in funding.

It is intended to “help increase access to behavioral health services.” The money will be used to provide mental health and substance use disorder treatment as part of primary care.

CHDC recognizes a “great need for additional behavioral support services,” Chief Executive Officer Bridgette McGivern says. Its goal, she adds, is to “address the growing mental health needs and substance use of opioids in the TriCounty region.”

More Suffering Daily, in Need of Services

“More and more children and adults are suffering each day with anxiety, depression, (and) opioid abuse,” McGivern observes. The agency is “happy to receive this award,” she says, to increase service access at its five CHDC locations. CHDC operates offices in Pottstown (2), North Coventry, Barto, and Boyertown.

Aa CHDC medical provider and its licensed behavioral health team supplies brief and short-term solution-focused sessions, goal setting, guidance, and referrals to outpatient treatment.

In 2016, CHDC was designated by the Department of Human Services as a Pennsylvania Center of Excellence. As a result, it is available to anyone with a current or previous diagnosis of opioid use disorder who seeks to recover from addiction and needs support to move forward.

New patients are welcomed for all CHDC services. Existing medical patients, or those who want to become new patients and include a behavioral health appointment, should call 610-326-9460 or send an email to info@ch-dc.org. Those who need addiction support for opioid use disorder should call 610-326-9460 Extension 105.
