COLLEGEVILLE PA – Expect to see a series of “cheesy” displays set up Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 15-16) inside the Wegmans Food Markets stores in Collegeville and King of Prussia.
On both days, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the grocery chain is observing a company-wide 10th anniversary of its construction of cheese-ripening caves in Rochester NY. The caves were built so Wegmans could bring what it considered “perfectly ripened soft cheeses to its customers at the peak of perfection.”
Five specific stations will be established in every store during the two-day period. They include:
- An education station, offering details about the ripening process at the caves;
- One that focuses on varieties of soft-ripened cheeses, and differences “between Bloomy Rinds and Washed Rinds;”
- A third specifically devoted to Brie, the popular soft cow’s milk cheese named for the region of France where it originated;
- Another that provides suggestions for pairing prosciutto and soft-ripened cheeses for holiday events; and
- Wine-and-cheese pairings for special occasions.
The Collegeville store is located at Providence Town Center, 600 Commerce Dr. The King of Prussia Store is found at King of Prussia Town Center, 1 Village Dr.
