Congresswoman Dean Tours North Coventry Ivy Rehab

POTTSTOWN PA – The North Coventry office of Ivy Rehab Physical Therapy, 10 Glocker Way, recently received a visit from PA 4th District Congresswoman Madeleine Dean. She was there to tour the facility and learn about essential services physical and occupational therapists provide to their patients.

The visit was scheduled by the Alliance for Physical Therapy Quality and Innovation. It hopes to promote interest in House Bill 7618 of 2024, also known as the Stopping Addiction and Falls for the Elderly (SAFE) Act. Introduced during March, the bill currently is under review by the House committees on Energy and Commerce, and Ways and Means, and awaits action.

Leaders at Ivy Rehab Physical Therapy showcased valuable services it offers to produce positive health outcomes for patients. They also explained the role therapy plays in preventing adverse events – such as falls – and reducing healthcare costs.

Pennsylvanians Annually Injured in Falls

The alliance reports that falls are a primary “cause of injury-related deaths for older Americans.” An estimated 615,000 Pennsylvanians are injured annually in falls, according statistics it cited from the federal Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. It suggests that physical therapy “offers a cost-effective solution” to what it labels as a “nationwide epidemic of senior falls.”

The SAFE Act, if passed, “would allow more older Americans to access the essential fall prevention services provided by physical and occupational therapists,” the alliance says. It appreciates “ the Congresswoman’s support through her co-sponsorship of this important bill,” the alliance adds.

The Alliance for Physical Therapy Quality and Innovation says it “unites small, medium, and large physical therapy practices to advocate for the physical therapy profession.”
