Fred Beans Automotive Buys Central PA Dealerships
BOYERTOWN PA – Fred Beans Automotive Group, which operates the Fred Beans Ford dealership at 525 Route 100 North in Boyertown, has added three dealerships and an auto body shop in central Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Business Journal reported Tuesday (Oct. 29, 2024).
The Beans group also owns nearly 30 other dealerships of various brands across portions of southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey, Journal reporter Emma Dooling wrote.
The company reportedly acquired Freysinger Automotive‘s GMC/Buick, Hyundai and Mazda dealerships in Mechanicsburg PA, and Freysinger Body Shop in New Cumberland PA. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, according to the Journal story. The Central PA deal is said to be the Beans group’s second acquisition this year.
Freysinger was founded in the early 1920s, its website says, and began selling new cars in 1937. The business grew with members of the family. In 1991 it purchased Mazda, Hyundai and Mitsubishi franchises; sold the Mitsubishi franchise in 1994; and purchased GMC and Buick dealerships in 1999.
Fred Beans has around 1,500 employees, the Journal also adds. Family principals in the former ownership say they intend to retire after 95 years of collective service. Fred Beans Automotive Group plans to retain Freysinger Automotive’s existing employees, it told the Journal.
