PA American Water Expands Customer Payment Help

PA American Water Expands Customer Payment Help

October 25, 2024

NORRISTOWN PA – Programs to help Pennsylvania American Water clients with financial needs to pay their outstanding water bills have been expanded, the company says. Its “H2O Help to Others” customer assistance efforts began more than 30 years ago, and now have new financial thresholds intended to reach a broader range of customers, a media release reports.

These assistance program changes accompany Pennsylvania American Water rate adjustments approved by the state Public Utility Commission in July, the company notes.

The company’s bill discount program previously consisted of three tiers of income-based assistance for customers with household incomes up to 150% of federal poverty income guidelines. With the program expansion, a fourth tier has been added to include customers with incomes ranging from 151% to 200%.

The result: an additional 8,500 additional customers in Montgomery County, and 55,000 statewide, are now eligible to receive discounted service. Depending on household incomes, participants may receive discounts of between 30% and 90% on monthly water and wastewater bills.

A Commitment to Affordability

“As part of our commitment to affordability,” Pennsylvania American Water President Justin Ladner says, its expanded offerings “help ensure that assistance is available to those who truly can benefit most.”

Also, water and wastewater grants of up to $500 per household per year are available to customers with incomes up to 250% of poverty income levels. The grant application period opened Oct. 1. The company launched an Arrearage Forgiveness Program, too.

For more information about the new or expanded Pennsylvania American Water assistance programs call the company’s administrator, Dollar Energy Fund, at 1-888-282-6816.
