POTTSTOWN PA – Only days remain until the start of this year’s Hobart’s Run by the River, but registrations can be made online, or in person on race day Sunday (Oct. 27, 2024). The scenic run “with a spooky, Halloween-themed twist” starts at 9 a.m. at Riverfront Park, 100 College Dr. On-site registration begins at 8 a.m.
Runners and walkers are needed for the run to again be a success. The event will be run in collaboration with Second Wind Timing.
Details regarding the Hobart’s Run by the River 5k are available online. Discounted sign-ups are offered for high school and younger students who use a code for the purpose; they should send an e-mail to Jacqueline Steinman at jacqueline@hobartsrunpottstown.org and request it.

Runners are encouraged to get into a creepy, funny, or festive Monster Mash mindset and run in Halloween attire. Special prizes will be given for the fastest runners in different age categories, as well as for those who are most “spirited” in several categories: scariest costume, best duo costume, best group (three or more) costume, and most creative costume.
Making A Community Impact
This family-oriented community fund-raising event helps Hobart’s Run make an impact in Pottstown. Its neighborhood improvement initiatives include the Adopt-a-Trashcan Program, business incentive grants, façade improvement grants, and its Homeownership Improvement Program. Proceeds benefit those and other causes.
A portion also will be designated for a lively Pottstown Halloween Parade in 2025.
“Unfortunately, the borough canceled this year’s parade due to the lack of a sponsor and related funds,” Hobart’s Run says. During 2023, the organization joined with several other Pottstown groups to get that year’s parade up-and-running. Even if funding had become available this year, borough Manager Justin Keller suggested “it would be prudent” to allocate it toward a 2025 parade.
The delay will provide time to “begin planning accordingly to ensure a well-executed, robust event,” Hobart’s Run explains. It says it “anticipates collaborative efforts with other Pottstown entities toward this goal.”
There’s still time to make donations to the cause as well, it reports. Bronze sponsorships (at the $100 level) and Copper sponsorships (for between $1 and $99) provided by Friday (Oct. 25) will receive recognition on social media.
