Meals on Wheels Benefits from SoulJoel’s Comedy Show

September 25, 2024

POTTSTOWN PA – A comedy show fund-raiser scheduled for Oct. 3 (2024; Thursday) at 7 p.m. in SoulJoel’s at Sunnybrook will benefit the Meals On Wheels program operated by Family Services.

The show features headliner Kunal C. Arora, a New York-based comedian “whose biting observational humor and sarcastic charm will have you doubled over with laughter,” the organization says. When he isn’t performing across the U.S., Arora hangs out in comedy clubs around New York City.

Doors for the event at SoulJoel’s, 50 Sunnybrook Rd., open at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for general admission, and $30 for SoulJoel’s VIP privileges. They are available now for purchase online.

Those who attend also are encouraged to dine at Gatsby’s Pub inside Sunnybrook before the show. SoulJoel’s has offered to donate 10 percent of each bill that evening to Meals on Wheels.

About Family Services and Meals On Wheels

Family Services’ Meals on Wheels program began in 1971, and at the time served seven clients. Fifty-three years later, the program on an average weekday serves about 120 older adults in Pottstown, Royersford, and the Lower Perkiomen Valley.

It relies on the efforts of about 160 volunteers, who “deliver so much more than just a meal,” Program Director Phoebe Kancianic explains.

“Nutritious meals create an opportunity to build relationships and strengthen bonds with our senior neighbors. Regular meal delivery provides tailored nutrition, social connection, compassion and care, safety, and so much more,” Kancianic adds. “Thanks to the community’s ongoing support of our fund-raising efforts, we are able to serve area seniors who turn to our program in times of need.”

Family Services reports it “has specialized in providing compassionate support and trustworthy guidance to Montgomery County individuals and families in need” since 1900. Throughout the agency’s nearly 125-year history, its programs have evolved to meet the changing community needs.

Current programming focuses on family support, health and wellness, housing, older adults, reentry and restorative justice, and substance abuse prevention. For more information, call Family Services at 610-630-2111 or send it a message from its website contact page.
