Bring Lunch, Enjoy Music on Third Thursdays in Trappe

Bring Lunch, Enjoy Music on Third Thursdays in Trappe

September 18, 2024

TRAPPE PA – Community Music School invites the public to join it for lunch – and an hour’s worth of free musical entertainment – on Thursday (Sept. 19, 2024), as well as for the next several months.

The 2024-2025 edition of its “Bach’s Lunch” mini-concert series is scheduled for the third Thursday of each month between September and May, from noon to 1 p.m. in its facilities at 775 W. Main St. Nine guests, most of them artists on the Community Music School faculty, are set to perform. Each monthly program starts promptly at 12:10 p.m.

The music is free. Lunch is on you

The series is named, of course, for famed German composer and musician Johann Sebastian Bach. The school encourages visitors to bring or locally buy a bagged or “box lunch” (see what they did there?), find a comfortable seat in the venue, and then chow down on both culture and a meal.

Lunchtime listeners of all ages are welcomed.

Although programs may be subject to change, here’s the current schedule of dates and performers:

  • Sept. 19, A History of Jazz with Alan Dynin on piano;
  • Oct. 17, Soprano Cristina Nassif, and Emilily Kosasih on piano;
  • Nov. 21, Dan Horning on trumpet;
  • Dec. 19, A Holiday Music Program;
  • Jan. 16 (2025), flute duo Jocelyn Crosby and Faith Wasson;
  • Feb. 20, Soprano Brenna Sowers;
  • March 20, Harry Oehler on trombone;
  • April 17, Soprano Bailey Jo Oehler; and
  • May 15, Music with the Mayor, Matthew Wismer, on piano.

Community Music School is a non-profit community organization that it says provides “quality music programs for students and audiences of all ages. With a professional teaching faculty, a 200-seat performance hall, and 18 teaching studios, (it offers) music lessons, classes, and ensembles for all instruments and all ages.”

For more information, call the school at 610-489-3676, or send it an e-mail to info@cmsmusic.org.
