ChesCo Restaurant Lands on Newsletter’s ‘Philly 15’
WEST CHESTER PA – A Chester County restaurant was named Sunday (July 14) by a widely read regional dining newsletter as one of 15 “new Philadelphia restaurants you need to visit now.”
The restaurant, Ground Provisions in West Chester, was the only selection located in Montgomery, Berks, or Chester counties to make the latest list. Each of nominee on the so-called “Philly 15” were briefly spotlighted in an article published in Foobooz. It’s a newsletter of Philadelphia magazine.
Ground Provisions is located at 1388 Old Wilmington Pike. Its chefs focus on vegan dishes. Foobooz claimed its choice was “best for date night (or) destination dinners outside the city.”
Foobooz described the place as “part country store, part rusticated café complete with organic lattes and marinated olives, and part restaurant where one of the most talented kitchens in the region serves a prix-fixe vegan menu to a handful of customers four nights a week.” The article also praised its seasonal tasting menu.
A Positive Nod for Asad’s Hot Chicken
Of note: the same article also lauded the new Bensalem, Bucks County, location of Asad’s Hot Chicken. It’s “fried chicken tenders (are) served hot, fast, and with minimal complication. Asad’s is cheap. It’s high quality. It’s addictively crisp and spicy,” Foobooz said.
Asad’s, as many Pottstown Borough residents already know, opened another store last month (June) on North Charlotte Street.
Maggiano’s Presents Upgraded ‘Mixologist Collection’
KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Maggiano’s Little Italy, the Italian American restaurant that started in Chicago and operates locally in King of Prussia, has introduced a set of “captivating cocktail presentations and refined ingredients,” it said Wednesday (July 10).
The restaurant’s beverage menu, in part, has “undergone a transformation,” company President Dominique Bertolone said. “Instead of just getting a great drink, guests will now get a full experience as cocktails are served with dramatic table-side presentations.”
Its updated cocktails range in price from $14-$17. They include:
- Smoked Old Fashioned, featuring Knob Creek Rye, Luxardo Maraschino, and bitters with notes of oak added through a smoking process, served over a whiskey ice sphere and presented in a smoke box for unique visual appeal and flavor;
- Pomegranate Martini, combines Absolut Raspberri, Cointreau, pomegranate, cranberry, and fresh sour, shaken and served table-side;
- Rosa Spritz, mixing Malfy Gin Rosa, fresh sour, strawberry, and topped with Mionetto Prosecco Rosé, served in a carafe, poured tableside, and finished with a spritz of rose water; and
- Grand Margarita: featuring Patrón Silver Tequila, Disaronno Amaretto, lime, orange bitters, and topped with Maggiano’s signature house-made Italian foam.
