POTTSTOWN PA – Oppressive heat could not keep shoppers from farm-fresh foods and crafter-made goods available this weekend in the borough’s downtown.

Pottstown’s Farm and Artisan Regional Market (FARM) was open Saturday (July 6, 2024) for business as usual. Despite actual daytime temperatures in the mid-90s, its vendors manned their booths beginning at 9 a.m. in Smith Family Plaza.

Hotter still, according to the National Weather Service, was the humidity-driven feel-like temperature of slightly more than 100 degrees.

As a result, the market was less busy than in past sessions. It nonetheless presented a wide selection of sellers offering vegetables and meats of all kinds, and distilled spirits, specialty coffees, and other beverages. There were activities for children, some of whom also enjoyed a cooling break in the plaza fountain. Guitarist and singer Mike Mullen serenaded buyers as they made their selections.

FARM returns July 20 for Christmas (really!)

If you couldn’t make it, or purposely decided against enduring the summer steam bath, Pottstown FARM representatives say they have good news. Their vendors are next scheduled to appear July 20 (Saturday), from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the plaza at 100 E. High St.

Expect some surprises then, as the organization throws its annual “Christmas in July” party. Christmas in July will feature “games, prizes, holiday music with Lisa Lerman, photo opportunities,” and other activities, its promotional materials reported. “Be sure to come check out the great vendors, and start shopping early for the holidays!,” it suggested.

Another edition of Pottstown FARM is planned for Aug. 3 (Saturday), with live music provided by Jody Dolansky. It also will operate on Aug. 17 and Aug. 31 (both Saturdays). Finally, Pottstown FARM will hold its Bingo! game fund-raiser Sept. 8 (Sunday) beginning at 1 p.m. at the Manatawny Still Works, in Suite 104 at 320 Circle Of Progress Dr.
