Limerick Hearing Thursday on PECO Rates

LIMERICK PA – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has scheduled an additional in-person public hearing Thursday (June 27, 2024) at 6 p.m. in the Limerick Municipal Building, 646 W. Ridge Pk. It allows more PECO Energy customers to comment on the company’s proposed rate increases for electric and natural gas services. State Rep. Joe Ciresi said he had requested the meeting.

More 422 Traffic Restrictions in Lower Pottsgrove

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Construction work is planned next week on U.S. Route 422, Sanatoga Road, and Porter Road in the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation $83.6 million project to rebuild and improve 2.1 miles of the expressway and replace two bridges between Sanatoga and Porter Road. PennDOT listed several different traffic restrictions planned between Sunday (June 23) and Friday (June 28).

Phoenixville Readies for Blobfest in July

PHOENIXVILLE PA – The 25th annual Blobfest festival, which pays homage to the 1958 Steve McQueen film titled “The Blob,” is scheduled for July 12-14 (2024; Friday through Sunday) in Phoenixville. The movie was filmed in the borough, and features its historic Colonial Theatre in a pivotal scene. Planned are special programs and activities, a street fair, and other events.

State’s Media Home Sale Price Surges

LEMOYNE PA – The median home sales price in Pennsylvania surged during May to $295,000, according to the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors. Up more than 5%, The state’s median home sales price rose more than 5% from $280,000 in April 2024, and was up 8.2% compared to May 2023. A median sale price is a mid-point at which half of an area’s properties sell at a higher price; half at a lower price.

Pennsylvania Buys First NASCAR Exposure

LONG POND PA – The state hopes to promote its newly launched tourism campaign, “Pennsylvania: The Great American Getaway.” So it has paid (the amount was not mentioned) to be named “as the race entitlement sponsor” for the annual NASCAR Cup Series event at Pocono Raceway. The 160-lap, 400-mile race will be held July 14 (2024; Sunday). It represents the state’s first foray into motorsports.
