PERKIOMENVILLE PA – Tap your feet, slap your knee, sing along, or dance during a coming summer concert July 25 (Thursday) in Lower Frederick Township.
The venue is the township’s comfortable and bucolic Cuddy Park, located at 102 Colonial Dr. The performance is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Barefoot Bobby and The Breakers, a band that blends pop, country, and rock into their concerts, will take the stage.
The concert is sponsored by the township, and scheduled by its Parks and Recreation Committee.
Those who attend are recommended to bring lawn chairs or blankets for personal seating. Be aware, too, that the events are pet-friendly, but leashes are required.
Refreshments will be available for purchase from Handel’s Ice Cream.
Although everyone hopes for the best possible weather, Mother Nature occasionally decides otherwise. As a result, a decision on weather-related changes can be anticipated three hours before the original concert time. An Aug. 1 rain date has been reserved, and if necessary will be announced on the township website and its Facebook page.
Also in July, for book lovers
The second month of Lower Frederick’s Book Club is under way. It also is taking advantage of the pavilion at Cuddy Park for members’ discussions. The group will meet July 13 (Saturday) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to talk over “Young Woman and the Sea,” by author Glenn Stout.
Advance registration is not required, but is encouraged and appreciated. It’s available online now, and open to the public.
Refreshments will be provided. Those who attend also will receive “the official Lower Frederick Book Club bookmark.” In case of bright sun or its alternative, rain, the pavilion will shelter the conversationalists. To ensure all have comfortable seats, participants are asked to bring a beach chair or blanket with them.
The club intended to read through three books this year. Its first, “The Berry Pickers” by Amanda Peters, was the topic of its June 1 get-together. The third, scheduled for discussion on Aug. 17, is yet to be announced. An individual registration form will be created for the August event as well.
To readers unable to make a discussion date, “don’t worry!,” organizers say. Feel free to join later conversations … which is why registration may be valuable. From it, the club will create an e-mail list to keep those interested informed of coming events and notifications.
