In Pottstown: Mini-Golf Deals, Play Streets Fun, Juneteenth

Now In Pottstown, Mini-Golf Deals and Play Streets Fun

June 11, 2024

POTTSTOWN PA – School’s out! Summer’s here! If you ever needed a reason or two (and, frankly, no one needs any justification) to play miniature golf in Pottstown, there you go.

But you should also know this: the borough Parks and Recreation Department is offering two better reasons. 1) You can save money, and 2) you can save more money.

The department is celebrating the return of seasonal weather and family fun on Sundays and Wednesdays at the borough-operated Manatawny Green Miniature Golf, 71 W. High St. On the golf course Facebook page, the Parks and Rec staff promises the summer of 2024 will be “jam packed” with enjoyment. Plenty of plans are already “in motion for the summer season,” it added.

To keep that pledge, it’s starting with two weekly golfing specials.

  • On Sundays, when Manatawny Green is open from noon to 9 p.m. (weather permitting), golfers can buy two regularly priced course tickets and get a third ticket at half-price.
  • On Wednesdays, when the course is open from 4-9 p.m. (weather permitting), special Wednesday-only pricing allows a family of four to play a round of miniature golf for only $24.

For more information call the course during business hours at 610-970-6607, or send an e-mail to manatawnygreen@pottstown.org.

The course officially opened this season on May 29 (Wednesday). Its summer operating hours are listed as Wednesday and Thursday from 4-9 p.m., and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.

Want more entertainment right within the borough? The Parks and Recreation Department reminds residents that:

  • The first Pottstown Play Streets event of 2024 arrives Thursday (June 13) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the playground and park at the corner of Washington and West streets. It’s free! “Join us for what will be a fabulous evening of fun and community offerings,” the department urged. “Come out and meet your neighbors, and find out some things available in the community that you didn’t know.”
  • Join in the “awesome event” fun of the Saturday (June 15) Juneteenth Community Celebration, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., in downtown Pottstown on High Street between York and Charlotte streets. The “heck of a celebration, according to the department, includes food, fun and a lengthy list of activities, vendors, and other entertainment. Of course, it too is free to attend.
  • Other Play Streets events are scheduled for June 20, at Pottstown Middle School Field on North Franklin Street; June 27, Maple Street Park; July 11, Prince Street at Bright Hope; July 18, Chestnut Street Park; July 25, Cherry Street Park; and Aug. 1, Spruce Street Park. They’re also free.
