USAC National Sprint Tour Opens Tuesday at Grandview

USAC National Sprint Tour Opens Tuesday at Grandview

June 10, 2024

BECHTELSVILLE PA – A busy schedule of June auto racing continues with programs Tuesday and Saturday (June 11 and 15, 2024) at Grandview Speedway, 43 Passmore Rd.

The race week begins Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. with a Thunder on the Hill Racing Series program. It features the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Tour, along with the 358 Modifieds, in a classic double-header.

Then on Saturday, Grandview presents another NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program. The features: T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds and the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman. The show is sponsored by Macmillan Oil Company of Allentown. It includes qualifiers for both classes, leading into a 30-lap T.P. Trailer Modified feature and a 25-lap race for T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman.

Tuesday’s Thunder on the Hill

The USAC non-wing Sprints will compete in the 40-lap Jesse Hockett Classic. It’s the opening race of the 17th annual USAC Eastern Storm series, with $6,000 going to the race winner after a series of qualifying events.

The 358 Modifieds will also see qualifying events, and a 30-lap $3000 to win main event. Pioneer Pole Buildings is offering a $2,000 winner’s bonus should the driver be a first-time Thunder Series winner. That could result in a $5,000 payday.

Grandview Speedway Modified regulars will battle it out with several invaders for the top prize in the Thunder Series’ Modified action.

Some of the top USAC drivers expected to participate include Logan Seavey, C.J. Leary, Daison Pursley, Brady Bacon, Robert Ballou, Kyle Cummins, Justin Grant, Chase Stockon, and Jake Swanson; as well as local stars Briggs Danner and Joey Amantea.

Before the Tuesday program, a Low-Down-and-Dirty meet and greet will again be hosted by Whippy. The USAC drivers scheduled to participate include Briggs Danner, Joey Amantea, Robert Ballou, and Matt Westfall. The meet and greet is held in the main gate area from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. It’s touted as a “great time for fans to meet the drivers up close, collect some autographs, and take photos.”

Advance ticket holders may enter the grandstand at 4:30 p.m., with general admission tickets going on sale and gates opening at 5 p.m. Adult grandstand tickets cost $35, children 6-to-11 cost $10, and kids 5 and younger are admitted free. Pit admission costs $40; no license is required.

Saturday’s Macmillan-sponsored battles

Macmillan Oil Company of Allentown will be set up inside the main gate grandstand entrance to greet fans upon their arrival. The company is providing “lots of giveaways including hats to the first 750 fans through the front gate,” Grandview reported.

Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates open at 5:30 p.m., followed by warm-ups at 6:15 p.m., and the first race of the evening getting the green flag at 7:30 p.m. Adult grandstand tickets cost $20, children 10-15 with identification cost $10, and children 9 and younger are admitted free. Pit admission costs $35 for NASCAR members and $45 for non-members.

Fans will also have a chance to win cool prizes in the monthly trivia night contest. They will be asked to test their skill and knowledge on questions about Grandview Speedway racing.

Coming later to Grandview

Race fans will take a trip down memory lane July 6 (Saturday) when Grandview Speedway presents ’90s night. A highlight of the night will be the roll back of the grandstand admission to 1990s pricing; as fans will pay just $10 for a complete night of T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modified and T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman competition.

Also on the calendar:

  • June 22 (Saturday) starting at 7:30 p.m., T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds, T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman, Outlaw Racing Series Vintage;
  • June 29 (Saturday) starting at 7:30 p.m., T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds, T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman; and
  • July 2 (Tuesday) the Thunder On The Hill Racing Series’ 34th annual Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Car Speed Week Series, with $10,000 to win the 410 Sprint Hodnett Cup; and 358 Modifieds.
