Foodie: Wendy’s Debuts Flavor-Dripping Saucy Chicken Nuggets

POTTSTOWN PA – Wendy’s Restaurants, often known for its hamburgers, have turned to chicken for what the company said it foresees as its next area of growth.

On Monday (June 3, 2024), Wendy’s introduced new versions of its chicken nuggets, or “Nuggs.” They’re tossed with any one of seven flavors of sauce, and served with a side of ranch or blue cheese dip.

Any choice is designed to complement Wendy’s crispy and spicy chicken nugget selections, available in a range of quantities of 4, 6, 10, or 20 pieces, the company added.

The chain operates three locations in Pottstown, two in Phoenixville, and one each in Royersford, Collegeville, King of Prussia, and the Reading area. It said nuggets were its most ordered entrée franchise-wide during 2023.

Wendy’s offers seven different sauces

“Wendy’s Saucy Nuggs” won’t officially hit the chain nationwide until next week (June 10). As of Monday, though, its digital customers were allowed to be the first to get their hands on the product.

Here are the sauce choices and their descriptions:

  • Honey BBQ, “full of smokiness and sweetness … with a subtle hint of honey;”
  • Garlic Parm, a “perfect balance of garlic and parmesan without overwhelming tastebuds;”
  • Buffalo, featuring “buttery undertones with a subtle touch of vinegar;”
  • Spicy Honey BBQ, a “balance of sweet and spicy;”
  • Spicy Garlic Parm, “sweetness and the sharpness of four types of roasted garlic;”
  • Spicy Buffalo, “an intense kick balanced by a subtle tang of vinegar;” and
  • Spicy Ghost Pepper, “an intensely spicy experience with a lingering depth … for the adventurous person who wants to dial it up on the spice-o-meter.”

Orders can be placed for pick-up or delivery through the restaurant’s smartphone app or at its website. As an added perk, Wendy’s said it also lowered the in-app delivery fee for a limited period.

The chain’s newest crust is its “New York Style.” Made with fresh, never frozen dough, the pie is “stretched thin and cut into six big, foldable, cheesy slices.” Domino’s also offers four other crust types: hand tossed, handmade pan, crunchy thin, and gluten-free.
