POTTSTOWN PA – Tuesday is National Burger Day; find your favorite beef in Pottstown and nearby. Also, Chick-Fil-A (in Limerick, Royersford, Audubon, and King of Prussia) launches a new sandwich in June. And one of the Top 100 barbecue joints in the U.S. (according to Yelp!) is only 22 miles away in Souderton.
Celebrate National Hamburger Day!; Chow Down Locally
POTTSTOWN PA – Tuesday (May 28, 2024) is “National Burger Day,” or if you prefer, “National Hamburger Day.” The National Day Archives, a marketing organization that charges companies $2,500 or more to create and list a national day about almost anything, claims the title is somewhat flexible.
Its intent, however, is clear: to sell more cooked ground beef patties on buns. And specifically on this day, many burger purveyors are willing to offer their edibles at little or no cost. They hope their generosity will convince hungry eaters to buy more from them at regular prices, today or in the future.
Some locally and independently owned restaurants that specialize in chef-created hamburgers, or include them on their menus, also may present special dishes or deals. Some advice? Seek them out first. You occasionally may pay more, but there’s a strong likelihood you’ll be wowed by the presentation, taste, and value.

- Wendy’s: Get a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger for 1 cent with any purchase;
- Arby’s: Get 50% off any burger when ordered online or in its app;
- Buffalo Wild Wings: New and current members of the chain’s rewards loyalty program can buy one burger and get another free; and

Chick-fil-A Introduces New Maple Pepper Bacon Sandwich
ATLANTA GA – A new Chick-fil-A® maple pepper bacon sandwich, and the company’s returning seasonal peach milkshake, will appear beginning June 10 (2024) on the company’s menu, it said Thursday (May 23). It operates at locations in Limerick, Royersford, Audubon, and King of Prussia.
The sandwich (above) is made with a grilled lemon herb-marinated boneless breast of chicken, grilled for a smoky taste. It is served on a buttery and toasted maple flavored brioche bun. Layered on top are Pepper Jack cheese, green leaf lettuce, and bacon hand-tossed in a brown sugar and pepper blend. It’s finished with sweet and spicy pickles.
The item represents “a delicious blend of sweet, savory and spicy, offering an entirely different flavor profile than any other sandwich we’ve launched, according to Chick-fil-A Director of Menu and Packaging Allison Duncan.
The maple pepper bacon sandwich is available for a limited time, through Aug. 24, and while supplies last.

Only 22 Miles Away, One of Yelp’s Top 100 BBQ Joints
SOUDERTON PA – Only two Pennsylvania restaurants were named Tuesday (May 22, 2024) to the Yelp!-published list of the country’s “Top 100 Barbecue Spots 2024.” One, in Philadelphia, was ranked at No. 78. The other, rated 33 places higher at No. 45, is located in Souderton … only 22 miles from Pottstown.
Maybe not too far a trip for some nationally recognized ’cue.
Yelp’s choice of Pennsylvania’s highest-ranked barbecue joint (above) is Jesse’s Barbecue & Local Market, 98 N County Line Road, Souderton. Its website identifies it as “a family owned (and) operated restaurant established in 2012.” The restaurant produces “delicious, slow-smoked meats … made fresh daily in our three outdoor, wood-fired smokers.”
Jesse’s seating includes an inside eating area and 10 picnic tables outside. It also offers take-out food in bulk for events from birthday and graduation parties, to weddings. Additionally, as its name suggests, Jesse’s operates a local market. It sells specialty items that include raw honey products, unique spreads, hot sauces, candles, chocolate, jerky, candies, plants, alpaca socks, and other items.
Jesse’s Barbecue & Local Market received 930 reviews on Yelp!, according to the publisher, and earned an average rating of 4.5 stars out of a maximum 5.
“From tender brisket to succulent pulled pork,” Yelp! said, its “Top 100 Barbecue Spots list is (an) ultimate guide to the best BBQ joints in America.” Yelp! is a restaurant rating and review website. For its list, the company said its “data team analyzed business rating and review volume.”
The second Pennsylvania entry, No. 78, was Sweet Lucy’s Smokehouse, 7500 State Rd. Philadelphia PA.
